Route Planning Tips

Check Weather Daily

Always check forecasts morning and evening. Be flexible and have alternative plans for bad weather. VHF weather broadcasts are reliable.

Plan Conservatively

Don't overpack your itinerary. Allow time for relaxing, swimming, and exploring. Sometimes the best moments are unplanned.

Know Your Limits

Be honest about your sailing abilities and crew experience. Start with easier routes and build confidence before tackling challenging conditions.

Book Ahead in High Season

Popular marinas fill up quickly in July-August. Book moorings in advance or arrive early. Always have anchor-out alternatives.

Fuel & Water

Don't run tanks too low. Fill up at major ports. Remote islands may have limited facilities. Conserve water when anchoring.

Local Advice

Ask other sailors and marina staff about conditions and recommendations. Locals know the best anchorages and restaurants.
